Some put you in a disadvantaged state, but can be overcome with time and the right circumstances. Some traits can be removed, but most can't. A few have unique bonuses outside of skills-such as Inconspicuous reducing the chance of zombies spotting you or Lucky raising the chance of getting rare loot-but the majority give you a leg up against the hordes in your starting skills. Most positive traits give you some combination of bonuses to your skills. Traits are divided up into positive traits that cost points to have, and negative traits that give you points to spend. Other really good talents are Strong and Athleticism.(Image credit: The Indie Stone) How do Project Zomboid traits work, exactly? Short Tempered, Brooding, and Light Drinker are essentially free trait points, since there are no NPCs currently in the game, and I'm pretty sure Brooding does almost nothing. I've been toying around with Park Ranger, and while being immune to colds is nice, their fairly rare and pretty easy to treat if you get back to your safe house.įor long term zombie survival, Construction Worker Lucky Resilient is a pretty strong combo. Generally the best profession is construction worker since you get a fairly significant boost to scratch/bite avoidance and extra HP on constructions. They can be eventually leveled up, but if its anything like sprinting its gonna be difficult, if not near impossible.Ī few of the passives do nothing, like night owl (so its pointless to take security guard) and the extra orienteering part of outdoorsman does nothing. To add to this, there are at least 2 hidden passive skills, strength and fitness, which stout/strong and athleticism affect respectively. I highly recommend viewing with Notepad . How much aim is granted by the Marksman trait, and does it increase reload speed by a percent or by a set value?Īnd lastly, what are the exact benefits of the combat and movement perks? I can feel that I am killing more efficiently with my second point in blade accuracy, or that I run faster with sprinter, but by how much does it increase these values?Įdit: If anyone else wants to know about drop chances or the Lucky Trait the files are in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\media\lua\server\Items"Īnd for a complete list of item stats go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\media\scripts" they are in the items.txt and newitems.txt files. How exactly do each effect the function of aggroing a zombie? Graceful seems to give a benefit much like the Lightfooted perk, while clumsy increases your "aggro-by-noise" range. But if I'm asking the wrong question or you just happen to know a lot about a certain trait could anyone help me with the questions below, as I know I'm not the only who's curious about this stuff.īy how much does Axe Man reduce the swing time of the axe? (The base value being 3)īy how much do Resilience and Thick-skinned improve the diceroll of bleed occurring?Īnd for Resilience, by how much does it reduce your chances of contracting the Zed virus if skin is broken? (The base values being 25% scratch and 96% bite)Īnd conversely, by how much does Prone to Illness hurt your chances? It's nice to know that they make you tougher and weaker to zombification and chance of infection, but by how much? If anyone could link me to source where I could read the uncompiled Java files that would be great, as then I could continue on exploring on my own. I'm not much of a coder, myself, but I would be really interested to see the exact benefits of combat perks (such as % or X increases) and the exact benefits of traits such as Resilience and Prone to Illness. But I ran into a brick wall in my research when I reached the compiled java files that govern traits. I was also able to find the underlying code for the Lucky trait in the Lua code, which really helped me understand the value of it (hint: It's freaking awesome). I was able to find in the Lua code the exact stats and drop rates of weapons and items, which was a real eye-opener as many important weapon traits such as knockdown coefficients are not listed on the wiki or any other source I've checked. I like character building in RPG's, but without the tooltips I don't believe I am making an informed decision when choosing traits or perks. I'm really enjoying the gameplay of Project Zomboid, but I'm finding the game to rather tooltip-sparse.
